Frequently Asked Questions

A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice registered nurse who has acquired extensive academic and clinic training in psychiatric and mental health care. They are qualified to perform comprehensive physical and psychological assessments, make diagnoses, provide therapy, and prescribe medications for individuals with psychiatric disorders.

At our practice, your wellness is our top priority. We aim to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere from your first visit through all follow up care. During your initial consultation, we will listen attentively to your concerns, assess your condition, and gather essential information to address the purpose of your visit. We will then develop a personalized diagnosis and treatment plan tailored to your unique needs.

Our practice is limited to adults ages 18 years and older.

While we do offer medication management services, we often recommend concurrent therapy to address underlying issues, as medication alone may not be enough to fully resolve concerns. If you already have a therapist, we are happy to collaborate with them to ensure comprehensive care. Additionally, we advise our patients to maintain a relationship with a primary care physician and schedule annual physical exams and laboratory tests, especially if they’re taking psychiatric medications, to ensure overall health and well-being.

We highly endorse therapy as a crucial complement to medication in addressing mental health concerns. While it’s not mandatory, research has shown that combining therapy with medication yields the most effective outcomes for many mental health issues. We encourage all our patients to seek out a therapist if they haven’t already, and we’re more than happy to provide referrals to support your journey towards wellness.

Prescriptions will be written to provide enough medication until your next scheduled appointment. It is anticipated that you will not require telephone refills. However, if an urgent refill is needed, please allow 48 hours for processing.

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, leading to missed appointments. If you need to cancel an appointment, we request at least one business day’s notice (24 hours). However, we encourage patients to cancel appointments as early as possible.

Please be aware that a $75 fee will be charged for:

  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time.
  •  Failure to attend a scheduled visit (no-show).

Your mental health and wellness are our top priority.
