Choosing a mental health provider is a personal decision, and it often helps to know a little about who you’ll be working with. Here’s a closer look at Dr. Vivian Imo, the Nurse Practitioner behind VIPsychiatry.
Dr. Vivian Imo describes her approach as one of meeting patients where they are, and supporting them in getting to where they want to be. She aims to provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where patients feel comfortable sharing their stories and identifying their own goals for growth.
Rather than applying a single treatment model to every patient, Dr. Vivian Imo’s approach is built around the belief that treatment should be individualized — working with each patient to develop a personalized plan.
Dr. Vivian Imo is Nationally Board Certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and is licensed to practice as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with prescriptive authority in the state of Maryland. She brings 5 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner and 10 years as a Registered Nurse to her work at VIPsychiatry.
Dr. Vivian Imo’s clinical experience began as a Registered Nurse at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. She went on to work as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner across a range of settings, including inpatient and outpatient facilities, intensive outpatient programs, partial hospital programs, and residential treatment homes.
Through this range of clinical experience, Dr. Vivian Imo has developed particular experience treating adults managing substance use alongside co-occurring mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other complex conditions. She is also certified and experienced in Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for drug addiction.
